Summer is a fantastic time to visit Osoyoos and venture into the beautiful scenery of the Okanagan Valley. Looking for a place to stay in Osoyoos? Desert Surfside Waterfront Accommodation is close to all of the action. Here is a list of some of the many adventures to be had in Osoyoos, close by to the many Osoyoos motels, including Desert Surfside:
The LaStella Winery, just a short walk away from the western shore of Osoyoos Lake and many Osoyoos motels, captures la dolce vita through their Tuscan-style winery and award-winning Italian-style wines, crafted by expert winemaker Severine Pinte.
For the ultimate wine-tasting experience, take A Symphony For The Senses, an in-depth tour of LaStella’s sustainable vineyard and guided tasting in the winery’s cellar.
If you’re staying at the Desert Surfside motels or anywhere else in Osoyoos, you should definitely check out the Lastella Winery.
Heatstroke Cycle was founded by Richard Cooper, an avid cyclist and adventurer born and raised in Osoyoos, to offer year-round bike sales, rentals and services as well as unique guided tours to showcase the southernmost part of the picturesque Okanagan Valley.
The Golden Mile Wine Country Tour is a four-hour, 14-kilometre tour that visits seven Osoyoos-area wineries on an electric bicycle. This gives wine country adventurers the chance to have a nice little workout but not exhaust themselves on the hills.
Don’t miss Rustico Farm and Cellars, where guests are greeted by two miniature donkeys in a pen out front and treated to owner Bruce Fuller’s animated guided tasting and a great selection of wines. Don’t miss the adventure. Take the heat stroke cycle this summer while you’re staying at the Desert Surfside Osoyoos motels.
Osoyoos Desert Centre
Before the lush vineyards rolled into the Okanagan Valley, the Osoyoos area was largely a desert environment home to desert-adapted plants and animals, like the antelope brush, pocket mouse, American badger, burrowing owl, and brittle prickly pear cactus. These species still exist but their habitat has been drastically reduced due to agriculture and land development.
The Osoyoos Desert Centre, a 67-acre nature preserve, and interpretive centre, educates the public and works to raise awareness and restore some of this vital and fragile environment. Feel free to travel the 1.5 km long elevated wooden boardwalk with or without a guide, and explore the nature that surrounds you.
Don’t hesitate to visit the Desert Centre, especially if you’re staying at the Desert Surfside Motel. The Osoyoos Desert Centre is a stone’s throw from Desert Surfside and other motels.
Joy Road Vineyard Kitchen
Starting this June, two of the Okanagan’s most esteemed caterers and winemakers will join forces when Joy Road Catering opens their Vineyard Kitchen at the Black Hills Estate Winery.
Dana Ewart and Cameron Smith are champions of local cuisine, and widely acclaimed for their inspired menus featuring “cuisine du terroir” – the best of what grows in their Okanagan backyard, including their own drove of pigs.
Black Hills’ gorgeous winery is located on the Black Sage Bench, prized for its ideal grape-growing conditions and the birthplace of their coveted and hard-to-get Carmenere and Nota Bene wines. The dynamic Joy Road-Black Hills duo is sure to have mouths watering this summer.
